The video clip above is the best representation of how iOS 4 works on the iPhone 3G, which is to say pathetic, and this has upset a lot of iPhone 3G owners around the world. A few weeks ago, information appeared that informed us that Apple is investigating these performance problems and it is possible to solve them to appease iPhone 3G owners. This information was confirmed by Steve Jobs in a reply to an email received from an iPhone 3G owner who probably reached the limit of patience:

I've waited patiently through 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, looking for a fix that will make my phone work again. I've read the forums that advise me to jailbreak my phone or use some other method so I can downgrade back to a version of iPhone 3, however I'm not prepared to use a method that is not supported by Apple.

And Steve Jobs' answer:

Software update coming soon.

Sent from my iPhone.

The beta versions of iOS 4.1 have improved the performance of the iPhone 3G terminal, a sign that Apple takes some of its customers' requirements seriously. iOS 4.1 would be released sometime in mid-September, together with the presentation conference of the new line of iPods, so iPhone 3G owners have almost a month to wait. Or if you have a jailbroken iPhone 3G and you are registered in a developer's account, you can install a beta version of iOS 4.1.
