78% of videos on the web are encoded to work on iOS

Apple hates flash and iOS is definitely the clearest proof of this since none of Apple's idevices has flash player support. Apple currently supports HTML 5 in favor of flash saying that it is much better optimized to run media content on mobile terminals. According to the encoding.com website, most websites on the web have decided to encode their videos to work on iDevices instead of flash.

Apparently 78% of all video clips on the web WORKS on iOS, 17.68% are encoded in the 3GP standard and only 4% are specially encoded to work with Android OS. Of course, these figures should not be viewed abstractly because Android OS is compatible with the flash standard and can play any video clip from the web. These results represent the publishers' intention to encode video content specifically for iDevices at the expense of other platforms.
