200.000 applications available for Android, is the AppStore starting to lose ground?

A few weeks ago we announced that there are more than 300.000 applications available in the AppStore, but only in the US one because the European AppStores had 200/250.000 applications available each. Well, if at that time there were only around 170.000 applications available for Android, this figure has now reached 200.000, at least that's what he claims AndroidLib. This site follows everything that happens in the Android Market and not only so it should have accurate information, however in the past the site has affirm untrue that there are 100.000 applications for Android when in fact there were only 70.000.

Windows Phone 7 has a nice growth, at the moment there are over 5000 applications available for this platform and their number will definitely increase in the next period. Microsoft has invested seriously in the promotion of this platform and in attracting developers, and the results are beginning to be seen.

Does Apple have anything to fear considering this "explosion" of Android applications? I would say no, because the Android Market applications available for the Android platform are a few classes below those available for iOS. At Android we are talking about a serious fragmentation that puts developers, especially game developers, in great difficulty, who are forced to develop applications that should be compatible with 5-10 devices each. My opinion is that the AppStore will always be much more appreciated than the Android Market, even if the number of applications for Android will be much higher.
