Apple asks developers to update their applications for iPad 2

Today, Apple published an announcement, on the page in the Dev Center dedicated to application developers, but also on the official page where the new functions of the iPad 2 are listed, asking developers to update their applications for the iPad 2. At the moment, all the applications run without problems on the iPad 2 and iOS already knows how to use the 2 cores of the new processor, but Apple asks the developers to update the applications so that they use the new hardware "to the maximum". iPad 2 comes with a gyroscope, with 2 cameras, with a graphic chip almost 9 times faster, plus many other APIs that, if used properly, can bring a huge increase in performance in applications.

Personally, I think that the gyroscope will be used by very few developers considering that there is a fairly limited number of applications that use the gyroscope in the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G. I think that the developers will focus more on including the possibility to use the iPad 2 camera, but here we are only talking about applications in which this functionality can be implemented. Not many applications will be updated specifically for iPad 2, most will be updated for iOS 4.3.
