Apple is working on the development of a new GPS navigation system

It has been rumored for several months that Apple is working intensively on the development of a new turn-by-turn navigation system using the Maps application integrated in iOS. The rumors find confirmation in a new one ad looking a new job available in the Apple engineering team that deals with the development of applications that use the GPS integrated in iDevices. Apple is looking for a software engineer who has advanced knowledge about GPS location services and who is willing to participate in a project designed to radically change the way we use applications of this kind in iOS.

The Maps team is looking for an exceptional developer to join us in our mission to radically improve how people interact with maps and location-based services.

For Android users, there is a free turn-by-turn navigation system implemented in the Maps application of the operating system developed by Google. Now for iOS 5 there could be a similar system if Apple moves fast enough with the changes. Although it would be extremely useful for Americans, such a service for Romanians would be ridiculous if Google Maps will be the basis of information for orientation.
