Apple is working on iDevices with an electroluminescent bezel

A new one appeared today at the American patent and trademark office registration for a patent granted to Apple. In documents, Apple describes a way to produce iDevices with an electroluminescent bezel, or in Romanian a bezel that could be used as a smartphone display. Basically, Apple describes a method by which it could use the bezel of iDevices to implement some commands that would allow users to control various functions of iOS. Why use the screen to control a game if through the bezel we could have access to all the buttons and the screen would remain free and untouched, and that for me would be a "dream" come true.

Apple intends to use the secondary display to introduce a set of new illuminated indicators that are able to morph into various controls for work and play. Illuminated gaming and productivity controls could be built into the face-side of the bezel and/or selected back-side areas of iOS devices like the iPad.

For those who don't know, the bezel is that portion that surrounds the screen and separates it from the Home button, the speaker, and the edges of the case. On this bezel, Apple could implement commands for iPod or other similar applications, practically giving us the opportunity to see everything that happens on the screen without touching it in any way. Imagine that the structure around the screen could light up when you receive a call or an SMS, all through this new technology described by Apple. Of course, everything is just a patent that probably won't see the light of day soon.
