The governments of France and Italy are investigating the problem with saving users' locations

After the letter sent by an American senator to Steve Jobs due to the problems with saving the locations of iDevices users, now the governments of Italy and France follow the example. 2 government agencies from the 2 states decided today to question the Apple company regarding this data saving function. The governments of the 2 countries are interested in finding out how exactly this service works, who has access to this information and if Apple shared the information from that file with other companies.

The secretary general of CNIL, Yann Padova, explains that the severity of the situation hinges on whether or not Apple shared location histories with other parties. "In the first case, it is a matter of simply not obtaining the consent of the consumer for the data to be collected," he comments. "In the second case, if the information is marketed without the knowledge of the consumer, it is much more serious."

For Apple, the joke is starting to thicken considering that at the moment this problem is on everyone's attention and worse, government agencies are starting to question the company. I return to the related idea today and mention my opinion that Apple could release iOS 4.3.3 or iOS 4.4 to solve this problem.
