Capacitive touchscreens are by far the best for smartphones, tablets, whatever you want. Extending the Touchscreen is a project of the organization ITP who tries to us show how 7 accessories can be used with our terminal screens. In the video clip above we have demonstrated the 7 accessories: a game controller, a digital ring used to unlock an iPhone, a mechanical stylus, a stylus that works based on sounds, a pulse generator, an accessory called dial-a- frame and a robot controlled by swypes future devices.

Touchscreens like those found on smartphones and tablets have enabled a new generation of versatile user interfaces. My thesis project, Extending the Touchscreen, aims to further this versatility by using conductive materials to construct a series of physical, mechanical, and electrical devices that touch, interact and communicate directly through the touchscreen interface. My goal in constructing these external devices is to make touchscreen interactions more tactile, physical and potentially more expressive and fun.

The whole project is based on the use of light sensors and magnets to create the interaction between the screen and the accessory instead of a classic USB cable. The idea is very interesting and shows us not only how inventive people are but also how versatile our iDevices are.
