Jan-Michael Cart made a series of concepts for iOS 5 that show us various ways in which Apple could improve the operating system on iDevices. Today we have a widget system similar to the one in Mac OS X Lion, but which works in iOS 5 instead of the page where Spotlight should be. Accessing the menu with widgets aka dashboard is done by a swype on the left of the screen where all added widgets are displayed. We can add widgets for the applications installed on the phone and we will probably be able to add others for applications that are not yet installed. The interesting part is that in the widgets we have displayed the new information from that application, so we will not have to open the application itself to see what is happening there.

The system is very very useful for any iDevice user and I think that Apple will implement it at some point in iOS but not now. I, for one, would like to see something like this in a future version of iOS, but I'm afraid that Apple will keep us going for a long time without it.
