iShutDown is an application available for only a few days in the AppStore that allows iDevice owners to shut down their PC/Mac directly from their own terminal. Of course, the application works with the help of a server program that must be installed on your computer. As soon as you install that program, you will have to give it access through the firewall (if you have an active one) to port 4545 because it is used to connect from the terminal. In the terminal you open the application and you have a list of hosts either added by you or already available and all you have to do is choose the IP of your computer and select either the option to close it or to reset it.
The interesting part of this application lies in the fact that we can connect to our computer both via Wi-Fi and via 3G, so we will be able to close it even when we are away from home, the only condition is to know the external IP of the network at which the computer is connected to. iShutDown costs only €0.79 in the AppStore and at this price I think it's worth trying even if it's not the only application of this kind.
