Samsung could buy WebOS

2 weeks ago HP "killed" the HP TouchPad and the Palm smartphone series and the company's PC division was put up for sale. If there could be interesting companies for the PC division, for WebOS no one has announced that they are offering a sum of money, but Samsung could do so in the near future. The Asian company has its own operating system called Bada OS, but WebOS is much more advanced and would offer an important advantage over the rest of the competitors, but would also provide security for the day when Google could decide that Android OS will be implemented in mobile terminals only by Motorola Mobility recently acquired by the company from Mountain View.

Samsung Electronics, despite refuting reports it plans to take over Hewlett-Packard's (HP's) PC business, reportedly has already recruited HP's ex-vice president of PSG marketing Raymond Wah to handle Samsung's PC sales, and the company is also reportedly considering purchasing webOS to compete head on against Apple and Google, according to sources from notebook players.

Both HP and Samsung have declined to comment about the purchase of webOS.

With WebOS acquired, Samsung could build a series of tablets that would have a much better chance against the iPad. The Galaxy tablet series had a weak to moderate success and the HP TouchPad became interesting only after the price was reduced by 80%, but if Samsung produced tablets with these operating systems it could have a lot to gain. WebOS is an appreciated operating system, but unfortunately HP did not know how to take advantage of it, but Samsung has much more experienced marketing and development teams that could build much better products.

Until such acquisitions were made, Samsung was fighting with Apple for patents.
