Samsung is suing Apple in Australia

After blocking sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Germany, the Asian company is starting to "take the bull by the horns" and is suing the Apple company in Australia, a country where it currently does not sell its tablet. The process has in the foreground the iDevices of the company from Cupertino which apparently violates no less than 7 patents related to mobile telecommunications technologies owned by Samsung. Everything is a counterattack by the Asian company that last months sued Apple both in France and Great Britain, but which so far has had very little success in blocking the sales of any iDevice.

Samsung Electronics Co. accused Apple Inc. of patent infringement in Australia, adding to multiple lawsuits across at least four continents involving the two companies' dispute over smartphone technology. The cross claim filed with the Federal Court of Australia alleges that Apple's iPhone and iPad infringe seven patents related to wireless communications standards, Samsung said in an e-mail today. It also seeks to invalidate and revoke Apple patents that have been asserted against Samsung's Galaxy phones and tablets.

Until now, this legal dispute between Apple and Samsung has brought victories only in the camp of the company from Cupertino. Apple managed to block sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany and decided to give up to the partnership with Samsung regarding the production of processors for iPad 3, iPhone 6, etc. Unfortunately for Samsung, the loss of contracts with Apple will generate very large losses, losses that sales of Galaxy series terminals will not be able to cover annually. For Samsung, this battle will prove to be extremely "damaging" because Apple paid 7 billion dollars annually for contracts with the Asian giant, but that amount will be considerably reduced as soon as Apple moves processor production to TSMC.
