Tutorial: How to check SHSHs saved in Cydia using redsn0w (Windows, Mac OS X)

  Yesterday Dev Team release redsn0w 0.9.9 beta 1, the most advanced version of the program with which we jailbreak our devices. redsn0w brings a new user interface plus some very important features that eliminate the need to use third-party programs to save an SHSH or to check the SHSHs available in our terminals. Practically, the Dev Team took redsn0w to a completely different level and I can only say that I'm glad that someone from them finally thought to offer more for users.

    In this article I will explain a method by which you can check the SHSHs available for your terminal in Cydia. The method presented below is more complicated than the one for TinyUmbrella, but if you do it once you will be able to recheck the available SHSHs whenever you want without having the terminal on or connected to the computer. TinyUmbrella does not offer this option and if the terminal is in DFU Mode you cannot use that program to see the available SHSHs.

     If you already did this tutorial or if you have done the procedure below at least once on your computer, then skip directly to step 7.

Step 1

Download redsn0w 0.9.9 beta 1 from here: WindowsMac OS X.

Step 2

Connect the terminal to the PC. Go to the folder where you downloaded redsn0w, right click on the executable, select Properties and from the newly opened menu go to Compatibility and tick Run this program in compatibility mode for then select Windows XP, Press Apply and then ok. After performing these steps, open redsn0w. If you do not follow the steps correctly YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE the SHSHs from your terminal.

Step 3

Now you have to enter the phone in DFU MODE. First close the terminal, then press jailbreak si Next and redsn0w will show you how to enter the phone in DFU Mode.

  • hold down the power button for 3 seconds;
  • without letting go of the power button, press the Home button for 10 seconds;
  • after the 10 seconds pass, release the Power button and the phone should already be in DFU Mode.

Step 4

In redsn0w access the menu Extras, then the menu SHSH Blobs and then press the button Fetch. redsn0w will display a warning message that you can bypass by pressing the button Next.

Step 5

After pressing the button Next redsn0w will implement the exploit from limera1n and check the SHSHs available for your terminal and send the saved ones to Cydia.

Step 6

After the process is finished, you will see an image like the one below, a sign that everything went ok and your SHSHs were successfully saved and sent to Cydia.

Step 7

After saving the SHSHs, go to the menu Extract>Preferences>ECID where you will have listed the ECID of your terminal.

Step 8

Copy the ECID of the terminal which should be displayed as a sequence of digits and go in Extract>SHSH Blobs>Query where you enter the ECID and press ok.

Step 9

After pressing the ok button redsn0w will check the SHSHs available in Cydia and display the list of all the SHSHs that you can use.
