During the Christmas holiday, Apple closed iTunes Connect, the portal through which developers of iOS applications manage their creations, and this also meant blocking the charts for purchased/downloaded applications. All those who remained at the top of the charts had very good sales and the Camera+ application from TapTapTap was boughtof 77 people in a single day. The figure is enormous and ensures over 500 dollars in profit for the company, but we are only talking about an application ranked 51.000th in the top of the most purchased applications in the US App Store.
EA Games, Gameloft, Rovio, the producers of the Tiny Wings or Fruit Ninja applications have recorded at least as good sales and now we see how important the App Store is for developers. A Christmas Day can bring some developers profit for a whole month and all thanks to the concept implemented by Apple. Unfortunately, Christmas is the only holiday that generates such high sales, so don't think that Easter or any other important event is really that profitable.
