GTA III for iDevices was launched last month in the App Store and the game is a port of the version for consoles. The good part of this is that we can modify almost any component of GTA III using the sites specially made for fans of the Grand Theft Auto series. The really interesting part is that we can modify the application from our iDevices even without jailbreaking, so you can customize GTA to your liking.

In the following I will show you how to modify the GTA III game and it would be good to follow everything exactly as explained otherwise the process will not work.

  1. Download iExplorer for Windows/Mac. Download IMG Tool for Windows or Crossover for Mac.
  2. After you have installed the programs, you can access one of the following sites where you will find all kinds of mods for GTA III: 1, 2, 3.
  3. Connect your iDevice to your computer and open iExplorer.
  4. Using iExplorer navigate to: Apps>com.rockstargames.gta3ios>gta3.app. Here you are looking for the files gta3_pvr.dir si gta3_pvr.img which you will copy to your computer and delete in your iDevice.
  5. Now using IMG Tool or Crossover open the file gta3_pvr.img in which you will copy the files you want to modify. For this tutorial we will modify a car. Download this file from here and unzip it on your computer. Now go back to the file gta3_pvr.img open with IMG Tool and search for the files manana.dff si morning.txd which using the option Commands>Extract of IMG Tool you will extract them to your computer. After extraction, delete them from the image opened in IMG Tool. Now unzip the mod presented by me and in the opened image add the files manana.dff si morning.txd using Coomands>Extract and then execute Commands>Rebuild Archive.
  6. After the process of restoring the archive has been completed, copy the files back to your iDevice gta3_pvr.dir si gta3_pvr.im which you deleted in step 4. They must also be copied in Apps>com.rockstargames.gta3ios>gta3.app.

If you followed the above steps strictly, then in GTA III the old car should have disappeared and in its place you should see a Ford V8 Sedan from 1980.
