RIM could license the BlackBerry OS to third-party manufacturers

For several months, the RIM company has been in an extremely delicate situation, very similar to that of the Nokia company. Recently, the decision was made to replace the two presidents of the company and the person who will take their place could completely change RIM's strategy. According to an American analyst, RIM could license the BlackBerry 10 operating system to manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, LG, etc. and this could completely change the industry of mobile phone manufacturers both in the short term and in the long term.

We think some of this has already started with RIM likely agreeing to license Blackberry 10 to Samsung, HTC, and possibly others. This would help create a critical mass for the ecosystem and maintain RIM's monthly service revenue.

BlackBerry OS is a very good operating system and Samsung or HTC could fully benefit from its possible licensing because they could produce competitive smartphones at good prices. For RIM, such a license could mean giving up the security that still keeps the company alive because Samsung or HTC will probably want to change a few things through the operating system and this will seriously affect its security. For Apple, Blackberry OS licensing is not really that beneficial because it would bring new smartphones to the market that will affect the iPhone's market share.
