An icon for iOS has a higher resolution than the screen of the first Mac

Apple has Retina Displays on all its iDevices now and an icon for iOS has a resolution of 512 x 512 pixels and in the image above we have an example of how the icon would look if an iDevice displayed it at its resolution real. Making a comparison with the screen of the first Mac developed by Apple, the icons of current iDevices have a higher resolution than that of the screen of that Mac. The icon for iOS has a resolution of 512 x 512 pixels while the screen of that Mac has a resolution of 512 x 342 pixels.

Going further with the comparison, the icon of the first Mac was only 16 x 16 pixels, while the current icons are 512 x 512 pixels. If we talk about the processing power required to display the icons then I will tell you that 32 bits of video memory were required to display the icon on the first Mac while now it takes 4 times as many bits to display an iOS icon at its size natural, but iDevices do not do this. In the images we can see how much technology has evolved over the years and we can imagine how it will evolve in the future.

At the end, I will leave you with a comparison between the 9-inch screen of the first Mac and the 9.7-inch screen of the iPad tablet, which has a resolution more than 4 times higher.
