Without Tim Cook, the iPad tablet would have cost several thousand dollars

Tim Cook has been the CEO of Apple for more than half a year, but before taking over the company, he was the COO who laid the foundations of the logistics system based on which components/products are transported to stores, partners, etc. Although Tim Cook does not seem to have the vision of Steve Jobs, the CEO is the reason why some Apple products cost so little. Those from Business Insider they talked to a person familiar with the way the entire industry of PC manufacturers works, and he said that the iPad tablet would have cost $5.000 if Tim Cook had not designed Apple's current logic system.

HP, Samsung, Acer, Dell, just to name a few, are struggling to eek out a profit from PC sales. Meanwhile, Apple is cranking along with a 45 percent gross margin. Our industry veteran explained the difference between Apple and the rest of the pack pretty simply: "If it weren't for Tim Cook the iPad would cost $5,000." Cook was able to figure out logistics and manage the supply chain so Apple could earn those fat margins. This isn't the first time we've heard people marvel at Cook's operations ability, but it was the best phrasing for it we've ever heard.

From my point of view, the figure is much, much too high for a tablet, but maybe the 4G 64 GB version of the iPad 3 would have cost over $1.000 if Tim Cook had not taken care of the development of the current logistics department. Apple is known for the tough way in which it negotiates with its partners and for the fact that it asks for very low prices for components and services, and that's how those from Apple manage to obtain a "profit" of almost 50% for the iPad tablet and a "profit" of over 50% in the case of the iPhone terminal. Apple products are expensive, but they could be even more expensive if the company operated based on a business model similar to that of its competitors.
