Patent lawsuits are a real problem according to Tim Cook (Video)

Week Tim Cook and the CEO of Samsung met to discuss the lawsuits they have opened worldwide. Unfortunately, their discussions did not lead to any positive result, and Tim Cook says these processes are a real problem. He says that Apple cannot be the "developer of the world" and that everything Apple produces must not be cloned by others who do not have the skills to do the same things. Cook says that many companies take technologies developed by Apple and sell them under their own name without crediting Apple for the invention and without paying a license for it.

From our point of view, it's important that Apple not be the developer for the world. We can't take all of our energy, and all of our care, and finish the painting, and have someone else put their name on it. We can't have that. The worst thing in the world that can happen to you if you're an engineer and you've given your life to something, is someone to rip it off and put their name on it.

Many people regard patents as simple nonsense and consider that technologies should be used and copied by everyone without restrictions, but the reality is different. A company that develops something must be able to protect its invention and no one else has the right to use it without their consent if it is patented. At the moment, many technologies designed by Apple are copied in one form or another by many mobile phone manufacturers, but only a few end up being actually sued by Apple.
