In July, the production process of a new iMac model with Retina Display would begin

Immediately after WWDC 2012, those from The New York Times learned that Apple intends to launch a new model of the iMac during the next year, again now we know that the partners from Cupertino are preparing to start production for a new model of this product. In July, the production of this new iMac would begin, and the launch would take place in October of this year, but iMac 2012 would not come with a modified design. Basically, the iMac would only have better hardware and Retina Display, but the design would remain unchanged, at least until next year.

Apple's supply chain will reportedly start supplying components for the mass production of Apple's upcoming new iMac all-in-one PC in July with the device's official launch possibly around October, according to sources from the upstream supply chain. The sources also noted that Apple plans to expand Retina Display into all the product lines, meaning that the new iMac will have a high chance of featuring Retina Display; however, the rumors are not confirmed by Apple. The sources pointed out that Apple is pushing Retina Display for its products in hopes to surpass its competitors in terms of screen resolution since most other notebook and tablet PC vendors are still adopting Full HD display for their products.

Although the implementation of the Retina Display in the iMac could generate an increase in the final cost of the product, those from Apple seem to be confident in their own product. The MacBook Pro Retina Display has a starting price of $400 higher than the cheapest MacBook Pro in the same category, and in the case of the iMac with Retina Display, things could be similar, but it remains to be seen what Apple will decide. It must be taken into account that for now we are only talking about a rumor that could be extremely inaccurate.
