I haven't heard rumors for a long time about the possible processor that could be implemented in iPhone 5But an Asian publication claims that the future device would have a quad-core processor similar to the one produced by Samsung in the Exynos 4 series. Unfortunately, the company that would produce these processors is not specified, but it is speculated that the processor technology would be similar to the one included in the respective Samsung series. Until now, Apple used ARM processors specially modified to work with iDevices, and those from Samsung were chosen for their assembly.
Competition for quad-core smartphones will heat up in the fourth quarter of 2012, triggered by the roll-out of much speculated new iPhones and models built based on Qualcomm's quad-core chips, according to industry sources. Additionally, Apple is also expected to release its next-generation iPhone built on Samsung's Exynos 4 quad-core processor in the second half, heating up competition in the segment, commented the sources.
It would not be excluded that the iPhone 5 has a quad-core processor, but I do not think that the technology used in it will be borrowed from other manufacturers, but will be based on changes made by the engineers of the Apple company. I personally do not think that the iPhone 5 will have a quad-core processor because it is not currently necessary to implement it, but that does not mean that Apple is not working on such a processor for its future iDevices.
