WhatsAppMessenger is the most popular application in the App Store for sending text messages, at least in Romania, and daily 10 billion messages are sent globally by users. The figure is enormous and if we compare it with the entire population of the globe, we realize that more than 1 message is sent daily for every living person on the globe. The rise of the system behind WhatsApp comes against the background of a decrease in revenues generated by mobile phone operators, services such as WhatsApp motivating users to stop sending SMS/MMS.
I assume that by next year the number will increase by at least 50% considering that more and more people are buying smartphones.
