Motorola is looking to remove all Apple products from sale

In a recent application sent to the ITC, Motorola claims that 7 of its own patents are infringed by Apple products and they must be removed from sale in the US. Those from Motorola emphasize the iMessage system in iDevices and Macs, and the ban request includes all products that run this system, the iPhone 5 could be included if the request had not been introduced before its launch. Many Apple products are listed in the application, no one knows if Motorola can really win this case or is just trying to force Apple's hand, but the accusations are serious.

With so many participants in the highly competitive Wireless communication, portable music, and computer market, it is unlikely that consumers would experience much of an impact if the requested exclusion orders were obtained," Motorola wrote. "Even if the exclusion order caused an increase in the price of wireless communications devices, portable music and data processing devices, computers, and components thereof—an unlikely event—a price increase alone is insufficient to warrant preclusion of a remedial order.

Apple and Motorola have won against each other in European courts, and a win in an American court would not be impossible.
