HTC One is the most difficult smartphone to repair

The ones from iFixIt they did it to get the new one HTC One to check, how easily this terminal can be repaired, and the result could disappoint many. According to the experts at iFixIt, HTC One it is the smartphone that is the most difficult to repair, being the first terminal of this kind to receive grade 1 in terms of the degree of repair. The aluminum case of the terminal is beautiful, it makes the device durable, but it seems that HTC built the terminal on the principles of Apple, that is, without any thought that it should ever be disassembled.

HTC One Repairability Score: One out of 10 (10 is easiest to repair)

  • Very, very difficult (possibly impossible?) to open the device without damaging the rear case. This makes every component extremely difficult to replace.
  • The battery is buried under the motherboard and adhered to the midframe, preventing its replacement.
  • The display assembly cannot be replaced without removing the rear case—this will make the most common repair, a damaged screen, nearly impossible.
  • Copper shielding on many components is difficult to remove and replace.

The problem is that that case can't really be opened without damaging it, the screen can't be changed without opening the case, and if you do these things without problems, you'll end up with a copper foil that protects the motherboard, camera and other components. It seems that that foil cannot be put back over the components after it has been opened, so basically ordinary users will not be able to repair the device without renouncing the warranty, and unauthorized services could be in exactly the same situation without proper documentation.

In practice, the HTC One is even more difficult to repair than the iPhone, and those who said that it couldn't be worse than that, now have a new standard against which to measure their claims.
