The European Commissioner for Telecommunications promises to create a single telecom market in the EU by 2015

Neelie Kroes, the European Commissioner for the Digital Environment, declared today that by the end of 2015 the European Union will have a single telecom market, without digital borders, without roaming costs, or other international costs. The current commissioner is 71 years old and promised that before he leaves his post and retires he has only one goal to fulfill, the creation of this single telecom market that would allow users to benefit from the same costs for services, no matter in which country UE use their terminals.

Digital agenda commissioner Neelie Kroes has promised to roll out a single telecoms market throughout the EU before she leaves office in one and a half years. I'm the same age as [ex-Manchester United football club manager] Alex Ferguson, but I have no intention to retire until I've knocked down all the barriers to the single market. Just think it through, a telecoms market without borders, without fragmentation, and that is the major priority for the rest of my mandate.

The idea is to eliminate the fragmentation imposed by the borders of each country of the European Union and despite the limitation of roaming costs, customers are still forced to use special options and pay increased costs to make phone calls or use the Internet outside their own country . If the initiative will be successful, then we will benefit in any EU country from the services of the country where the subscription was concluded, all without additional costs and without the worry that we might have colossal bills.
