Tim Cook claims that Google Glass will not be successful, smartwatches represent the future

During the last night Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, opened conference series All Things Digital D11 and talked about many, many very interesting things. It all started with a few statements related to Google Glass, about which Tim Cook he considers that it will not be that attractive, he considers that the devices that can be worn around the wrist represent the future. Cook did not confirm/deny that Apple would work on such a product, but said that the wrist is "interesting".

Nike Fuel Band well made for the fitness category. Works well with iOS. The ones that do more than one thing aren't great. They won't convince a kid who has never worn glasses, a band, or a watch to wear one. There are lots of things to solve in this area, ripe for excitement. I think there will be tons of companies playing in this (won't respond to Walt asking if Apple will). I see this as a very key branch of the tree... referring to the post-PC era.

Acknowledging the fact that the market for wearable devices is an important one, Tim Cook said that products that do several things at the same time are not so great. He states that users want light products, that do not bother them and that reflect their lifestyle and clothing choices, people need to be convinced to wear such a device if they have never been taught with it. Practically, Tim Cook indirectly confirmed that an iWatch is among Apple's plans, we just have to see when it will be launched.

I'm interested in a great product. I only wear glasses because I can't see without them. People want wearables to be light, unobtrusive, reflect their fashion/style and so forth. From a mainstream point of view, glasses are difficult. I think the wrist is interesting. It is somewhat natural. I think for something to work [on the wrist], you have to convince people why it is worth wearing them.
