Push for Gmail implements the push notification function for the iOS Mail application

  Push for Gmail is a tweak launched last night in Cydia, and with its help we can implement the Push notification function for accounts in the Mail application gmail. You all know that iOS does not natively do this, ca Google removed the ability to send notifications to new iDevices, but the Gmail application from App Store send notifications without problems. Push for Gmail uses the functionality of that application to implement push notifications in Mail from iOS, both applications having to be installed at the same time with the same account set in them.

Requires the official Gmail app (free in the Apple App Store)<. Push for Gmail enables push for your Gmail IMAP accounts in the standard iOS Mail App. On January 30, 2013, Google stopped offering push (instantly delivered) email for new devices, unless you use the official Gmail app. Gmail Pusher allows you to enjoy push mail using the built-in Mail app again! Saves your battery – only connects to Gmail when you have new mail. Receives new mail notifications instantly, just like the Gmail app.

Instructions:

  1. Install and launch the free Gmail app from the App Store;
  2. Sign in to your Gmail account(s);
  3. Launch the built-in Mail app;
  4. Configure the same Gmail account(s) using IMAP;
  5. Set your Gmail accounts to 'Fetch' (NOT push!) and set the schedule to 'Manually'

  After setting up the accounts, you must navigate to Ssettings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar, select your account and choose the Fetch and Manual options for notifications. After performing these settings tweakCPC Push for Gmail will automatically send you push notifications when you receive a new email in your Gmail account. Push for Gmail is available in the repo ModMyi al Cydia.
