The Norwegian government forbids Apple to record 3D Flyover images over the city of Oslo

3D flyover it is a system designed by the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for his new application Apple Maps, and through it we should be able to view 3D images of all the cities that have been mapped by the company. Although the company is trying to add as many cities as possible to this 3D Flyover list, Oslo will not be one of them. The Norwegian National Security Authority prohibited to the Apple company to send its planes to film the city from the air, stating that it does not want any secret buildings or security measures to be revealed through these pictures.

We do not want it to be shot with such a high degree of precision that it can be used to identify areas that require special shielding. Photo shoot with this level of detail can provide knowledge about the safety measures that are not desirable that becomes available, said acting director Øyvind Mandt in NSM to Aftenposten. The military has some areas that are subject to restrictions, and it is also more sensitive objects newly classified as this by the Security Act. We want more time to secure them in a sufficient manner.

The Norwegian government has already banned journalists from photographing the buildings of its secret agencies/those dealing with national security, and Apple will not even have access to the rest of the city. The US Embassy got involved in the problem and asked the mayor of the city of Oslo to give his consent for the filming of the city, but a letter sent by him to the Ministry of Defense did not help the situation in any way. Practically, Norway wants to keep its city safe and, not having access to the data collected by Apple, it cannot edit the areas where security measures have been implemented, so it will not consent to photographing the city.

The government's attitude is correct, as Norway has been hit by several harsh attacks in recent years, and publicly providing detailed information about locations is not a very good idea.
