A bug of iOS 6 si OS X 10.8.x is able to generate crashes, sudden closures, of any applications, and Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), knows about its existence for more than six months. Although the company he fixed it the problem in iOS 7 si OS X 10.9, unfortunately the current public versions of iOS and OS X remain vulnerable to this bug. Practically, a set of Arabic characters can generate immediate crashes of any application available for iDevices, and any malicious hacker can attack iDevices endlessly.
Although a tweak will be released in Cydia to protect users who have jailbroken their own iDevices, the rest of the users will have to wait for the release iOS 7 to be safe. Unfortunately, no one knows why Apple chose to leave such a big problem unsolved, but it is important to be careful and not to access any kind of emails or messages received on the terminals.
