Orange Romania and the extension of 4G coverage in Bucharest

Week I told you that Orange Romania extended 4G LTE coverage in Bucharest, becoming the first mobile phone operator to cover the capital with a network of this kind. Of course we are talking about coverage LTE 4G only on the internet side, all operators offer only that at the moment, but starting next year we should also have voice services for these networks. Last week those from Orange they equipped me with an iPad tablet and sent me for a ride in a car to test the speed of the network through Bucharest, and you can see the results in the images of this article.

The highest download speed reached on the Orange network is 55 Mbps, 20 Mbps less than the maximum speed offered by the network. The average download is somewhere between 30 and 40 Mbps outside and 20-30 Mbps at home, but everything depends on the area you are in and the degree of network usage. I obtained the highest speed somewhere on Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, in the rest of the areas the speeds vary between the previously mentioned limits, they being higher or lower depending on the previously mentioned variables. The tests in the first image and the third are done on the route Timpuri Noi - Calea Victoriei, and in the second image you have a test done in Timpuri Noi.

In the case of the upload speed, I managed to slightly exceed 18 Mbps in the tests, the speed being sufficient to quickly upload pictures or video clips on social networks, or to share multimedia files through any type of network. In general, the upload speeds are lower than the download speeds in the case of all mobile phone operators, so it is not so difficult to understand the rather large difference between the results, but from next year things should improve significantly, with the operator following to also access the 2600 MHz frequencies that will offer browsing speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

In Bucharest you should reach average speeds of 20-40 Mbps in almost any area, unfortunately I could not reach everywhere, but the average is somewhere around there and from what I have seen from the results of others who have tested the system, approximately the same results were obtained by them. That being said, enjoy your 4G, because things are only going to get better in the near future.
