BBM for Blackberry allows users to make Video and VoIP calls using the Canadian company's servers, but the applications for iOS si AndroidOS they do not have this functionality yet. The good part is that Blackberry is working intensively on its implementation and the executive vice president of BBM announced that this functionality will be available in the following months. Of course, it is not known yet how long it will take until these functions will be available, but Blackberry will certainly not rush, considering the recent problems generated by the launch in App Store si Google Play.
It's definitely a free service. We have other ideas on how to monetize that service. We continue to plan to evolve the service and keep making it more engaging and have more reasons why people will come back to use the service. This is one we're definitely investing in, this is definitely one of our key strategies, but it's one of many.
Apart from all this, we learn that soon BBM displays ads for users, but only within BBM Channels. In the video clip above you have a presentation of this functionality of the application and basically we are talking about a "social network" in which users can share content, follow different people or be followed. Within this system, Blackberry will display targeted ads, but it remains to be seen how popular it will be among users considering that there are so many social networks.
