Here's how you can charge an iPhone or an iPad tablet faster

  Several rumors have been circulating on the Internet for several weeks recommending users to activate Airplane Mode when charging their iDevices to charge them, up to 50% faster than normal. Leaving aside the fact that in the case of a iPhone the complete closure of the possibility to communicate seems stupid to me, in reality you might do this for nothing, because the increase in charging speed is theoretical and non-existent if you use the terminal while charging.

  If you want to quickly charge your iDevices, here are some practical tips related to reality:

  • do not use the iDevices while charging because using them will be extremely difficult to charge, the components using the energy provided by the battery during charging;
  • don't use PC USB ports because they don't provide as much power as Apple chargers, except for Macs which are designed to provide as much power;
  • do not use counterfeit chargers/cables because they could provide less energy than an original charger, moreover, there is a possibility that iOS 7 will reject them;
  • use the original chargers connected directly to the outlet.

  The time difference recorded between using a USB port of a normal PC and that of a Mac, or an original charger, is approximately 1-2 hours in the case of iPhones and several hours in the case of an iPad tablet. I don't know who charges their iPhone in Airplane Mode, I find this recommendation strange, but you can try it to see what results you get.
