A counterfeit iPhone charger explodes in a user's hand, causing injuries that require a week of hospitalization

During the past year, I have presented two cases in which people electrocuted by counterfeit chargers for iPhone au deceased or were hospitalized, and now we have a new case, directly from the USA. An American holder of a iPhone 5 he was electrocuted by a counterfeit charger bought on the internet, and now he spends a week in the hospital because of this. The charger exploded in the user's hand causing injuries that require no less than 4 operations to be corrected.

The jolt that left Tyrrell with a serious electrical burn through his hand destroyed his discount charger, tripped the circuit breaker and put Tyrrell in the hospital for more than a week. "Basically, the charger turned black and, it's where the USB cord connects to the outlet, had a little mini-explosion," Tyrrell explained. "It kind of bruised the fingers inside where I plugged it in." The charger that burned out left a quarter-sized wound on Tyrrell's hand that later became infected — and much more serious. It took three operations to tackle the infection.

Problems of this kind are more than common when it comes to counterfeit chargers for iDevices and Apple initiated a program last year by which he discourages their sale, but it seems that he is not very successful. Although counterfeit iPhone chargers are cheap, the problem is that they do not work properly and there is always a risk that the user will be seriously injured or even killed due to the fact that these accessories are simply manufactured incorrectly.
