6 Apple Store employees were arrested after helping a group of thieves to activate iPhones locked in iCloud

IMPLEMENTATION OF iCloud Activation Lock seriously affected the ability of thieves to sell stolen iDevices, given that many of them were locked in iCloud and they could no longer be unlocked. This small inconvenience did not stop a few thieves from convincing no less than 6 employees of one Apple Store from the USA to replace iPhone-stolen and locked with brand new iPhones, ready to be sold.

No less than 600 iPhones, with a total value of almost $500.000, were replaced in Apple Storethe American using this method, the company's employees receiving between $45 and $75 for each illegally replaced terminal. The whole process was possible thanks to a seventh employee of a store Best Buy which offered employees Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), the serial codes of the iPhones in the store, these being used to activate the terminals stolen from Apple Store.

Everything was discovered when those in Cupertino received complaints from users who could not activate their iPhones, the checks revealing the fact that the terminals had the serial codes already active. It is hard to say in how many other locations similar things happen, but it is unlikely that this group is the only one that acts in such a way.
