Sony gives up the production of the film about the life of Steve Jobs

Last year, Sony initiated a project whose goal was to produce a film about the life of Steve Jobs based on the only authorized biography written by biographer Walter Isaacson with the help of the former Apple CEO. The screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin and after many months of searching for an actor for the main role with the refusals received from Leonardo DiCaprio or Christian Bale, those from Sony decided to abandon the project. According to information obtained by Deadline, the entire film will be moved from Sony to Universal in the next few days.

I'm hearing very strongly that Universal is indeed locking down the Jobs project and essentially giving it a green light. This should be closed by tomorrow latest. That means the project shouldn't lose any momentum despite the studio move. Will provide more details when I get them.

It seems that Universal will buy all the production rights of the film from Sony Pictures by tomorrow, so we will have a new producer and probably a slightly different vision of it. The film's script focuses on three scenes of 30 minutes each that present the main moments in the life of Steve Jobs, up to the moment of the presentation of the iPod that changed the music industry. For now, it is not known when the film will be released in cinemas, but as soon as these details are available, I will let you know.
