Apple rejects applications that contain the word Android in images

Android screenshot iOS applicationCompany Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has very strict rules for developers who want to publish applications in the App Store, and among them it seems that there is one that prohibits the promotion of Android. More precisely, if the presentation image of an application contains the word Android, then Apple will reject that application from publication until the developer replaces that image with one that does not promote Google's competing platform.

In the image above you can see a demonstration of a problem that caused the application to be rejected from publication, the word Android being hidden in the middle of the screen in one of the notifications displayed in the notification center. Although the ban seems stupid at the moment, it is still normal, the Apple company trying to avoid the promotion of competing platforms in its application store for iDevices.

We understand the guidelines and the fact that Apple has to draw the line somewhere. In this particular instance however, the guidelines come off particularly silly as Breaking is essentially a lightweight news reader. The screenshot in violation is showing a news feed with arbitrary content. It's got nothing to do with the app itself.

Although Apple's actions are understandable to a certain extent, the problem in this case is that the presentation image in question, with the mention of Android, has been visible in the App Store for a very long time. In fact, Apple at some point approved the respective application with that one presentation image that mentions the Android platform, but after an update it seems that he changed his mind and forbade its publication.

As usual, Apple imposes its rules very late after breaking them, leaving developers with a lot of question marks about the reasons behind the decisions, but is anyone else surprised by the fact that Apple acts only as it wants?
