iPhone 6 continues to surpass Samsung Galaxy S6 in sales

samsung galaxy s6 sales iphone 6iPhone 6 si 6 iPhone Plus were in the top of the best-selling smartphones in the world at the end of April, i.e. more than 20 days after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung's two new smartphones quickly climbed to the third and fourth positions ahead of other competing smartphones, but they failed to "dethrone" Apple's products, which continued to enjoy extremely high popularity.

Because we are talking about sales at the end of April, that is, during a period when the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge were being promoted intensively by Samsung, we can conclude that in May things have not changed, at least not in the sense in which the iPhone 6 would have been surpassed by a Samsung terminal. If in the first 20 days after the launch the two new Samsung products did not manage to reach the first positions, then it is unlikely that they will do so in the previous period of April.

In general, iPhone terminals conquer the first positions of these charts in the week before the launch, but in the case of those from Samsung, things are completely different, even though it is estimated that in April 6 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 were sold Edge. Practically in 20 days, Samsung sold fewer terminals than Apple in only 3, last year iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sold 10 million copies in one weekend.

Counterpoint's channel survey shows a total of 6 million units were sold by the end of April. We believe this is about 60% of the units Samsung has shipped out of its factories. So 40% remain as inventory in the distribution channels which is not unusual for a new product in its first stages.

Samsung manufactured 10 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, but it seems that 40% of the units were still in store stocks at the end of April and it is unlikely that anything has changed radically by now. Some say that the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge would not live up to Samsung's expectations, but it remains to be seen if we will ever find out the truth.
