Apple influences the future of Bluetooth technology

Apple Bluetooth SIG memberThe Apple company is directly involved in the evolution of Bluetooth technology in the future, those from Cupertino having since the beginning of this year an employee as secretary of the council that administers the technology.

Moreover, today we learn that Apple has become a promoter member of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, this position giving those from Cupertino the right to vote in the meetings where the way the Bluetooth standard will evolve is discussed.

Intel, Lenovo, Ericsson, Microsoft, Nokia and Toshiba are the other important companies in this council, each of them having a member in the board of directors that administers the group, so Apple can now influence the way the standard evolves.

Apple has long been a key participant in the Bluetooth ecosystem. Since 2011, the company has provided guidance and knowledge to the Bluetooth SIG through its participation as an Associate Board Member. We're excited to welcome Apple to its new role in the organization and on the SIG board.

In recent years, Apple has implemented more and more functions that are based on Bluetooth technology, and its new role gives it even greater power to convince competing companies about how Bluetooth should evolve.

In this idea, the Apple company could support the development of new technologies that allow a much more efficient management of battery autonomy during Bluetooth use, but also many other changes that could bring a suite of new functions for iDevices.

Apple was received "with open arms" by the current members of the Bluetooth SIG, and if we look in the past at how Apple influenced the evolution of SIM cards, we can easily realize that there will be major changes in the case of Bluetooth as well.
