Dual-SIM smartphones represent an impressive figure in total smartphone sales

Dual SIM smartphoneDual-SIM smartphones are becoming more and more important in the lives of users who no longer use a single mobile phone network, but benefit from the offers of several operators and do not want to have multiple mobile terminals in their pockets.

Although most of them are not that impressive to the average user, during 2015 a third of all smartphones sold worldwide were models Dual-SIM, this being a first for smart mobile phone sales.

More precisely, during 2015, 431 million dual-SIM smartphones were sold worldwide, an impressive figure if we consider that a year ago it was said that the smartphone market was stagnating, but over 1 billion units have were sold on the planet.

As you can probably already imagine, the main "engines" of growth were the Asian countries and those nearby, China and India representing the locations where a good part of these sales were registered and growth is also expected from there in the coming years.

We forecast worldwide dual-SIM smartphone sales to grow a healthy 19 percent from 431 million units in 2015 to 514 million in 2016. Dual-SIM smartphone sales will top the half-billion mark for the first time ever next year. Almost 1 in 3 of all 1.6 billion smartphones sold globally will be dual-SIM models in 2016. Dual-SIM is a killer feature for smartphones.

Although it is estimated that the number of dual-SIM smartphones sold globally will increase in 2016, the percentage of total sales would remain largely unchanged, so classic smartphones will still remain in the preferences of regular users.

Unfortunately, the Apple company does not seem interested in this trend and it is unlikely that we will see a dual-SIM iPhone in the near future, because Apple would be forced to increase the thickness of the devices to offer this functionality, so do not expect a change of attitude from Cupertino.
