Apple Watch is seriously affecting the sales of Swiss watches

Apple Watch Swiss watch salesApple Watch was launched in April by the Apple company and then it was said that the sales of Swiss watches would be seriously affected by the appearance of this product, something that finally happened, at a much faster rate than initially expected.

According to some recent information regarding the sales of Swiss watches, their exports have decreased by 8.5% in the last three months, the Asian markets being the ones that were the basis of this rather serious decrease in sales, the trend will continue in the following months.

Swiss watch exports decreased in May, July and September, and considering that Apple Watch reaches more and more markets around the world, it is clear that the Swiss will no longer experience spectacular sales increases in the next period, not even in December.

After May and July, September is the third month to show a marked decline in Swiss watch exports. This negative change has spread to other, hitherto more robust Asian markets and casts something of a shadow over prospects for the year 2015.

Swiss watch exports decreased by 9.9% in May, 10% in July and 8.5% in September due to the Apple Watch, this being the biggest decrease in sales recorded by these types of products since 2009 and until now.

Going into details, the watches with prices between 200 dollars and 500 dollars recorded the biggest decrease, of 14.5%, the cheapest Apple Watch models entering this price category, mainly in the USA, not in Europe.

Having said that, the Apple Watch seriously affects the competition and this is perfectly normal since we are talking about a very popular and highly sought after product.
