Samsung agrees to pay 548 million dollars for copying Apple

samsung desperate measures smartphone saleSamsung agrees to pay 548 million dollars for copying Apple, and this more than 3 years after an American jury decided that in reality the Koreans must pay more than 1 billion dollars for infringing some patents of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),.

3 years of calls made by Samsung have brought the dispute with Apple to this point where the Koreans are waiting for an invoice for the 548 million dollars to transfer the funds to the accounts of those in Cupertino, but with the reservation of continuing to sue Apple.

Samsung considers that although it pays this amount of money, it still has the right to ask for its reimbursement and legal expenses in the future, so it basically pays money without admitting its fault, those from Apple of course denying Samsung's right to ask for a restitution of the money.

Regardless of what else Samsung manages to do in the future, for now the Korean company will pay 548 million dollars to Apple for its inability to do anything other than copy the ideas of others, the amount is still small compared to what Samsung earned .

Samsung continues to reserve all rights to obtain reimbursement from Apple and/or payment by Apple of all amounts required to be paid as taxes. […] Samsung further reserves all rights to reclaim or obtain reimbursement of any judgment amounts paid by Samsung to any entity in the event the partial judgment is reversed, modified, vacated or set aside on appeal or otherwise, including as a result of any proceedings before the USPTO addressing the patents at issue or as a result of any petition for writ of certiorari filed with the Supreme Court.

Despite the mentions made by Samsung, the Apple company is finally seeing money after all the lawsuits it has with Samsung, the amount will enter its account by mid-December if the 548 million dollar bill reaches Samsung this week .

The decision now taken by Samsung to pay Apple money for infringing some patents could have a major impact on other companies that copy Apple's ideas, as they could think much more carefully before taking inspiration from Apple's patents.
