Netflix could be launched in Romania at the beginning of next year, the most popular streaming multimedia service will finally make its appearance in our country, one in which similar services have not enjoyed so much interest.
Netflix would be launched in Romania at the beginning of January, but we are talking here about a rumor that does not have a reliable source, but is based only on information from various people who would be involved in the process of launching Netflix in our country.
The rumor is one that, from my point of view, has very little chance of coming true, and this is because Romania is a country where the world is extremely reluctant to pay for VoD services, especially in the conditions in which torrents are available.
Although Voyo, DigiPlay, TelekomTV or HBOGo they tried, together with others, to teach Romanians to pay for multimedia content, the lack of important series and films convinced too few people to spend money to support them in the future evolution.
In this idea, even if Netflix will offer the newest series and movies right from the moment they are broadcast on various US television networks, or only on their own network, I am quite sure that Romanians will not rush to subscribe, no matter what how cheap would they be.
Romanians are not used to paying for something they can get for free, even if that would mean the disappearance of that thing lacking financial support, and Netflix has little to gain from a country without people willing to pay for VoD services.
As long as in Romania piracy will be possible without restrictions at the national level, no one will earn enough from VoD services and personally I am quite circumspect about the possibility of launching Netflix in Romania in the coming years, although there are chances that I will be badly mistaken .
