Telekom announced the financial results for Q1 2016

Telekom Romania announced during this day the financial results for Q1 2016, the mobile operator announcing increases in almost all segments, the mobile division having the best results at the moment, as expected.

Telekom Romania Mobile Communications has total revenues of 113 million euros, 9.5% higher than Q1 2015, the customer base of broadband services increasing by 15.3% compared to the same period, the business customer base having an increase of 5.5%.

Telekom Romania Communications has 2.5% more customers than in Q1 2015, now reaching 1.449 million customers, its revenues of 137.1 million euros being 7.8% lower than in the same period of 2015.

Telekom Romania had in Q1 2016 4.827 million subscriptions to fixed services and 5,654 million customers of mobile services, so we are talking about a total of 10.481.000 customers in total, with over 400.000 more than those reported by Orange at the beginning of last year.

Telekom Romania Communications and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications announce the main performance indicators for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2016, ended on March 31, 2016, according to the data published today by OTE Group.

“The first three months of 2016 reflect a positive performance of mobile operations revenues, while fixed operations revenues declined, partly on the back of the decline in the fixed voice segment. The offer of converged fixed-mobile services under the MagentaONE umbrella remains an important growth engine for Telekom Romania, with a 30% advance in the first quarter of the current year compared to the end of 2015. In addition, mobile data generated a solid increase in the base of customers for mobile broadband services, both on the residential and business segments", said Anastasios Tzoulas, Chief Financial Officer, Telekom Romania.

The financial results reported by Telekom Romania Communications for Q1 2016 show a decrease in revenues, but a positive trend in key segments such as fixed-mobile integrated services, respectively TV. In Q1 2016, revenues were 137,1 million euros, 7,8% lower than in Q1 2015. ProForma EBITDA (operating earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation, excluding restructuring costs) for Q1 2016 was 20,5, 37,5 million euros, 1% lower than in Q2015 XNUMX.

Telekom Romania Communications registered 270.000 MagentaONE customers for fixed-mobile integrated services, 62.000 more compared to the end of 2015. This growth generated higher revenues for mobile services by 83% in Q1 2016 versus Q1 2015.

In the TV segment, the customer base increased by 2,5% in Q1 2016 compared to Q1 2015 to 1,449 million, while its revenues remained relatively stable, with a decrease of 1% in Q1 2016 vs . Q1 2015. IPTV subscription revenue had the highest growth rate compared to other TV technologies in Q1 2016 vs. Q1 2015. As for FTTx, efforts continued to focus on increasing the penetration of this technology in areas already covered. Customers who opt for this technology enjoy speeds of up to 1 Gbps for high-speed Internet and interactive television (IPTV) service.

The number of Internet broadband subscribers fell in Q1 2016 by 1,8% to 1,195 million compared to the same period in 2015, and revenues fell by 4% year-on-year.

The revenues from the wholesale segment of Telekom Romania Communications increased in Q1 2016 by 2,1% compared to Q1 2015.

The number of subscriptions reported for fixed and mobile services increased by 1% in Q1 2016 compared to the same period last year, reaching 4,827 million.

Telekom Romania Mobile Communications registered total revenues of 113 million euros in Q1 2016, representing an increase of 9,5% compared to the first quarter of 2015. Revenues from services related to the first quarter of the year were 77,1 million euros, in down 1,9% from Q1 2015.

Mobile broadband revenue grew 6,4% in Q1 2016 compared to the same quarter last year, and the mobile broadband customer base grew 15,3% over the same period. The number of 4G customers increased 6-fold (629%) in Q1 2016 compared to Q1 2015, while 4G data traffic increased almost 8-fold (780%) over the same period. In addition, 93% of the mobile phones sold by Telekom Romania Mobile Communications in the first quarter of this year were smartphones.

At the end of Q2016 5,654, the total customer base (including Zapp) was 4 million, down 1% from Q2015 0,8. The postpaid customer base remained relatively flat this quarter, with an increase of 1, 2015% compared to Q29 XNUMX, representing XNUMX% of the total customer base.

The business segment maintained a positive evolution in Q1 2016, with a 5,5% year-on-year increase in the business customer base and strong growth in the mobile broadband customer base of 16,7 % in Q1 2016 vs. Q1 2015.

In the first quarter of the year, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications added several strategic accounts to its business portfolio, such as Imperial Tobacco Distribution Romania SRL, the local subsidiary of one of the largest cigarette manufacturers and distributors in the world, the Topanel group of companies, top producer and distributor of thermal insulation materials, and Inter Cars Romania, one of the most important players on the local market in the field of distribution of car parts, accessories, tires and service equipment, as well as aftermarket car solutions.

ARPU (Average Revenue per User) was 4,4 euros in Q1 2016.

ProForma EBITDA (operating earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation, excluding restructuring costs) reached the value of 18,3 million euros in the first quarter of this year. ProForma EBITDA margin reached 16,2% in Q1 2016, registering a decrease of 5,5 percentage points compared to Q1 2015.

Currently, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications offers 4G coverage for 57% of the urban population and 32,4% of the total population (rural and urban). In Bucharest, 4G coverage is 98% of the area, while in the tourist cities of Brasov and Poiana Brasov the coverage is 98% and 100%, respectively. In addition, customers who are not in the 4G coverage area can benefit from 4G Experience, an advanced connection based on 3G HSDPA dual carrier technology, which allows speeds of up to 43,2 Mbps, in 278 cities and over 5.000 localities.

Based on the national roaming agreement concluded between Telekom Romania and Orange Romania, Telekom customers will be able to enjoy 4G and 4G+ communication technologies even when they are not in the coverage area of ​​Telekom Romania Mobile's 4G network, by using the Orange network 4G/4G+, covering 72% of the national population and 96% of the urban population.
