Today marks 15 years since the opening of the first Apple Stores

Today is a special day for the Apple company, and this is because it marks 15 years since the opening of the first two Apple Stores, with the popular former CEO of the company, Steve Jobs, participating in the opening of one of them.

On May 19, 2001, the first two Apple Stores were opened in Tysons Corner, Virginia and Glendale, California, welcoming 7700 people and generating sales of $600.000 during the opening weekend, demonstrating their effectiveness from the start.

The two Apple Stores performed so well that by the end of 2001 Apple would open 25 more locations in various areas of the USA, and at the moment the American company has 475 stores open in a variety of countries on the globe.

From 2001 to the present, the retail division of the Apple company has had a multitude of leaders, but Ron Johnson is the one who has left the most imprint on the giant retail chain of the Apple company, Angela Ahrendts now having the opportunity to do the same thing.
