WhatsApp will send the videos as GIFs

WhatsApp will be able to turn short video clips into animated GIF images, which can be sent to our network contacts.

WhatsApp is trying to catch up with its competitors, at least in some ways, and starting this year it will allow you to send video clips as GIF images. Specifically, a new feature discovered in the beta version for Android a WhatsApp indicates that the new function is almost ready to be officially offered to users.

According to those who tested it, if we record a video clip that has a maximum duration of 6 seconds, WhatsApp will allow us to turn it into a GIF type image. From the options menu for editing the video clip, the option for its conversion will be available, this being done in just a few seconds, then the file can be sent.

Now if you are wondering why it is useful, well we are talking about the size of a video clip compared to the size of an animated GIF image. Video clips take up much more space, especially if they are filmed in 4K format, and sending them through a cellular connection will consume even more data from our subscriptions.

By turning a video clip into an animated GIF image, the space is reduced and the traffic consumed is reduced, so everyone wins from this change. For now, it is not known when this new function will be offered, but I imagine that those from WhatsApp will not keep us away for a long time.
