The Apple company will open a research and development center in Zhongguancun, China, according to a press release published by the representatives of that location. Those from Apple have not yet confirmed the announcement, but since the representatives of the company that manages the office buildings there have done so, it is clear that everything is official.
Zhongguancun is a technological hub of China located in Haidian District, in the northwestern part of Beihing, being recognized in China for the projects developed there. As you probably already imagine, we are talking about China's Silicon Valley, over 20.000 technology companies have been created there since 1950 and until now, Google, Intel, AMD, Sony and Microsoft having research centers there.
The new research and development center has a subscribed capital of 15 million dollars, Apple's investments may reach up to 45 million dollars in the following years. Those from Apple intend to employ approximately 500 employees in the new center, and there will be developed both software programs and components that will be dedicated to Apple.
The research and development center is only partially completed for now and by the end of this year it is expected to be fully open, with teams of Apple engineers and managers working there. Until now, the Apple company has opened research and development centers in Canada, India, Indonesia or Vietnam, and the one in China will be joined by others.
"Apple has set up its first R&D center in China in Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park, according to a statement issued by the Zhongguancun Park Management Committee. The R&D center has a registered capital of CNY100 million (US$14.994 million), with total investment likely to reach CNY300 million in the future. The center plans to hire a total of 500 employees, focusing on the development of computer software and hardware products, communication, audio and video devices, as well as advanced technologies for consumer electronics products and the information industry.
