Vodafone has the fastest mobile internet in Romania

Vodafone has the fastest mobile internet in Romania, at a considerable distance from Orange, according to the well-known SpeedTest website, which most of you use. In the image below, you can see the ranking of the operators with the fastest mobile internet in Romania at the end of 2016, and those from Vodafone are in the first position, detached.

Vodafone has the fastest mobile internet in Romania with download speeds of 53 Mbps and upload speeds of 18.39 Mbps, very good for our country. We are talking here about a 4G network in which those from Vodafone have invested large sums of money and which shows its quality, according to those from SpeedTest, through very high mobile internet speeds in Romaina.

Orange ranks second with download speeds of 44 Mbps and upload speeds of 16.11 Mpbs, the difference compared to Vodafone being quite large. Orange may have invested more money in its 4G network and I think it has a slightly more extensive 4G coverage than Vodafone, but the speeds are lower, maybe also because Telekom is now bringing its users into it.

Unfortunately, despite the investments, those from Telekom continue to offer a bad experience of surfing internally in their own network, with download speeds of 23.47 Mbps and upload speeds of 9.47 Mbps. The rescue of those from Telekom could come from Orange, which offers them access to the 4G network thanks to an extended partnership, but we will see next year if the agreement will bear fruit.

Finally, on the last position we find those from Digi Mobil, this place has been theirs for years and years, despite the launch of the 4G network in Romania. Digi Mobil has the worst mobile internet in Romania, with download speeds of 12.66 Mbps and 2.61 Mbps for upload, so the experience itself is extremely bad, dragged down by the extremely slow 3G network.

Real results and the difference compared to Romania

The information provided by SpeedTest is contrary to that provided by ANCOM through its own mobile internet speed testing platform in Romania. According to ANCOM, Orange would have the fastest mobile internet in Romania, with download speeds of 37 Mbps, Vodafone placing second with download speeds of 29 Mbps.

The difference between SpeedTest and Netograf is that in the first, hundreds of thousands, or maybe even 1 million speed tests are recorded annually for Romania, and in the second, only a few tens of thousands, in the best case. In this idea, my trust goes to the results from SpeedTest, where there is a greater accuracy due to the greater number of tests.

Vodafone and Orange have been arguing for the title of the operator with the fastest mobile internet in Romania for some time, but in 2016 Vodafone seems to have won.
