Apple collected 79% of the smartphone industry's profit in 2016

2016 was an excellent year for the iPhone and the Apple company, and according to a publication from South Korea, those from Cupertino collected 79.2% of the profit of the smartphone industry. We are talking about a colossal profit margin for the entire industry, with Apple having a major advantage over other smart phone manufacturers.

In 2016, the smartphone industry recorded a profit estimated at 53.7 billion dollars, and this from over 1.4 billion smartphones sold globally. From all this amount, it is estimated that 44.9 billion dollars would have belonged to the Apple company, i.e. a quarter of its total receipts for the year 2016, but less than the entire profit of the company.

Making a comparison, those from Samsung took over 14.6% of the profit of the entire industry of smartphone manufacturers in 2016. We are talking about a percentage that is 5.4 times lower than that of Apple, and thus Samsung was left with a profit of 8.3 billion dollars from the sale of smartphones during the last year.

Adding the two amounts we have a total of 53.2 billion dollars, so the remaining 500 million dollars was divided between the rest of the smartphone manufacturers. We are talking about a small profit that they have left from the sale of smartphones, so the vast majority sell the terminals at a loss, or with a profit that does not support future research and development.
