Apple's augmented reality glasses are in an advanced development process

We have known for several months that Apple has a pair of glasses for augmented reality in development, and now we learn new details about the company's plans. The team that develops these glasses for virtual reality is led by a former manager of the Dolby company, Mike Rockwell being his name, he has been part of Apple since 2015.

He works under the coordination of Dan Riccio, senior vice president of the division that develops hardware within Apple, the development process of glasses for augmented reality being very advanced. These glasses will offer a high-quality visual image, but also state-of-the-art sound, considering that a former Dolby manager is involved.

Apart from the former Dolby manager, within this team there are managers who contributed essentially to the development of the Apple Watch, but also Tomlinson Holman, who created the THX format. Separately, there are people who worked in projects for the development of Oculus within Facebook, but also of the HoloLens product that Microsoft has been developing for years and years.

Apple also bought several companies specialized in augmented reality, and in New Zealand it has teams that work intensively on the development of this product. Apple is investing serious amounts of money in the development of this pair of glasses for augmented reality, but for now it is not known when they will be released for global users.

"Building glasses will be harder. Like the Watch, they'll probably be tethered to the iPhone. While the smartphone will do the heavy lifting, beaming 3D content to the glasses will consume a lot of power, so prolonging battery life will be crucial. Content is key too."
