Facebook Messenger has extensions for iOS applications

Facebook announced yesterday a series of major changes for Messenger, the chat platform it created especially for users around the world. According to those from Facebook, in the next period a new function called will be available for all users chat extensions, allowing the integration of extensions for applications in Messenger.

Application developers for iOS or Android will be able to use Facebook software to create extensions that will allow the integration of applications in our conversations. With the help of these extensions, applications like Spotify will allow the sharing of music for our friends in an extremely simple way, so that they have a simpler experience of listening to music.

Separately, for Facebook Messenger there will be various other applications that will allow sharing money, creating reservations for restaurants and many others. The new chat extensions system from Facebook is similar to the one created by Apple for iMessage, so we are talking about a good idea from Cupertino taken over by Facebook.

This very interesting change made by Facebook gives developers more freedom to promote their applications and existing functions for them. How long it will take for developers to update their titles is hard to say, but it probably won't be long before more do.

"Developers can now insert themselves into Messenger chats. Think the iMessage App Store, but with a nicer design. Notable launch partners include Spotify and OpenTable, which let you share songs and reserve tables directly from chat. In my brief tests, the experience was great."
